Collection: Botanical Collection

A collection of late 18th century and early 19th century original botanical paintings. We believe these to be very fine period copies of illustrations by Sydenham Edwards that appeared in Curtis’s Botanical Magazine. Founded in 1787, Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, publishes detailed papers on the history, conservation, ecology and economic uses of a global range of plants. Many of the articles include paintings, commissioned from world-leading botanical artists, executed in fine detail. These paintings, alongside the articles, provide an international forum for botanists and horticulturists, plant ecologists and those with a special interest in botanical illustration. We have compiled a collection of 116 paintings, all of which are available for sale.
